Sketchbook Deluxe Edition is an original sketchbook, a unique piece drawn entirely by hand. It has two hundred pages, like Kende’s other sketchbooks, but this time it is entirely in black and white: no colour, only the mark.

Without colour to guide the eye, what remains is writing in its most essential form. Each page becomes an exercise in balance between full and empty, between the black of the ink and the ivory of the paper. Here Kende’s calligraphic research can be read in its most direct form: letters that stretch, break and recompose, tags that become structure, gestures repeated until they find their measure.

It is the working notebook becoming an artwork, page after page. It can be leafed through like an archive of the process: you see the attempts, the variations, the returns to the same form, the moment when a mark stops being a test and becomes language.
