Graffiti History n.3, 2010 — third panel in the series Graffiti History, a series of works dedicated to constructing a visual genealogy of European writing culture. Through layers of calligraphy, gestural marks and textured surfaces, Kende translates the language of urban graffiti into an autonomous pictorial form, designed to engage with contemporary architecture.
The 100 × 100 cm square format reinforces the modular nature of the series, allowing each panel to stand as an independent work whilst maintaining a direct link to the overall narrative. Created in 2010, Graffiti History n.3 It belongs to one of the most significant periods in the artist’s exploration of the transformation of urban calligraphy into interior painting.
