It's Worse Than You Think

Fine art archival pigment print from the original work “It's Worse Than You Think” by Kende, 2009.

It's Worse Than You Think

An opera belonging to the first phase of Kende's research, Just Hate develops the transformation of the calligraphic gesture into painting on wood through a direct, instinctive and material composition. The work retains the energy of the European period spent between London, Amsterdam and Barcelona, which was fundamental in the formation of the artist's visual language.

Pure Hate

Love was produced in 2011 and is one of the few single-word titles in Kende's catalogue. The choice of the term, one of the most universal and widely used in human language, is approached without irony or any illustrative intent: the calligraphic gesture embraces the meaning without directly describing it. Through mark, rhythm, and material layering, the work develops a tension between writing, emotional presence, and visual space. Executed in mixed media on canvas, the work is currently held in a private collection in Italy.

Me and the Bench

No Reason dates from 2010 and explores the immediacy of gesture and the absence of narrative justification. The title asserts a direct and absolute dimension of the calligraphic mark, understood as an autonomous presence and a self-sufficient language. Through material stratifications, compositional rhythm, and gestural writing, the work constructs an essential and intense visual space. Executed in mixed media on canvas, the work is currently held in a private collection in Italy.

"Purple Seil" originates from 2010, a period of intense activity between studio work and urban intervention. The chromatic reference in the title introduces a rare violet presence within Kende's catalogue, which is usually characterised by monochromatic tones and urban colour schemes. Through calligraphic marks, material layering, and compositional rhythm, the work explores writing as a visual and interior space. Executed in mixed media on canvas, the piece is now in a private collection.

Purple Seil

Putas develops the language of urban calligraphy through a monumental and layered composition where signs, abrasions, and overlays construct an intense and contemporary pictorial surface. The panoramic format emphasises the relationship between writing, rhythm, and architectural space, maintaining the visual tension typical of Kende's research.

Whores

R is an original artwork created by Kende in 2010 using mixed media on canvas. The work isolates a single letter from the graffiti writing language, transforming it into an autonomous pictorial element. Through urban calligraphy, gestural signs, and material stratifications, the artwork explores the relationship between writing, fragmentation, and visual perception. Dimensions: 100 x 90 cm. Unique artwork sold, prints not available.
